Abstract: [Purpose/significance] In the age of big data, the diversification of media and the overload of information have caused negative information phenomenon, such as information cocoons, which has attracted more and more attention in academic community. It is of great significance to analyze the causes of the information cocoons, so as to eliminate its negative impact on cyberspace governance and guide the orderly development of information space. [Method/process] Based on the previous studies and under user perspectives, logical normalization method is used to explore the causes of information cocoons from information space, personal information space and their interaction relationship. [Result/conclusion] The results have showed that the historical necessity, technical causality and user self-suitability are the main causes of information cocoons. Information cocoons is the inevitable trend of the information era, in which technology plays a catalytic role, and individual cognition plays a dominant role.

Key words: user perspectives, information cocoons, formation causes, historical necessity, technical causality, user self-adaption
