[Purpose/significance] With the development of information and network technology,the enviornment of the scholarly communication has been changed greatly. Library publishing has become a new focus of service innovation and transformation of the academic libraries at home and abroad. The academic publishing service involves the organization form, the source of funds, the service content, etc. The paper tries to analyze the academic publishing mode in the foreign academic libraries to provide guidance and reference for the academic libraries.[Method/process] Using the literature review method, it systematically organizes and analyzes the development of library publishing services in foreign academic libraries. Then, by analyzing the data of Library Publishing Directory(2014-2016), this paper expounds the practice progress of the library publishing service in foreign academic libraries, and analyzes the organization form, the source of funds and the service contents.[Result/conclusion] It points out the features of library publishing and the enlightenments to the library and information science in China.
