[Purpose/significance] By analysis of the overseas practice, this paper aims to explore the benefits and models of the convergence between LAMs and social network.[Method/process] With the method of case study and comparative analysis, this article discusses the models and advantages of the cross-domain convergence, including Tumblr-based, Flickr-based and Wiki-based. This research will throw light on the social media application practice for LAM institutions.[Result/conclusion] The convergence between LAM and social network could improve the exposure, discoverability and accessibility of cultural resources in the cyberspace. In order to apply social media more efficiently, the LAM institutions in China should learn from the successful experience of foreign countries, including consciousness, policies, collaboration, media selection, and digital content.
