Taking the practice of "the West Lake legend" protected by Hangzhou public library for example, this paper sets forth the necessity and feasibility of the public library in the intangible cultural heritage protection. Participating in the intangible cultural heritage protection is the responsibility and obligation, the real-life needs of function extension, and the development trend of case of public library. Public library has the unique advantages and available resources to be a professional agency of intangible cultural heritage protection. From the public library perspective, this paper proposes the idea of the sustainable development of the intangible cultural heritage protection management.
