Firstly, this paper introduces the basic concept and value of hackspace, and the current situation of hackspace service in American libraries. On this basis, it analyzes the significance of hackspace service in libraries to expand the function of library adequately, innovate library service, promote the knowledge management of library and change the librarian functions. It believes that Chinese libraries should also provide such service. Finally, it gives constructive advises for Chinese libraries to develop hackspace, which include launching exhibition of maker culture, setting up online platform and motivating all sectors of society to support.
