This paper firstly constructs a key technology evolution analysis process framework of industry based on patent citation, and then views the patent data of DWPI and DPCI included in Thomson Innovation (TI) from 1993 to 2010 as data source, also builds a patent analysis dataset of battery electric vehicle (BEV) industry by retrieving the patents through subject search and classification numbers search. Finally, it reveals key-technologies distribution and evolution of BEV industry through patent citation analysis and multivariate statistical analysis. Researching key technologies of BEV industry can give some important support on identifying the technical focus, selecting R&D target, optimizing resource distribution and improving innovation efficiency.
