Batch cataloging is an effective way to promote the access to electronic resources. The authors conducted a survey of batch cataloging practices in the domestic academic libraries, involving data quality, tools, the impact on the bibliographic records quality, the challenge and the potential impact of the discovery systems on electronic resources batch cataloging. It found that the most common challenge was data quality; there were variations among libraries in quality assessment and records editing practices. Generally, the emphasis on the records quality was not enough in China academic libraries. Finally, the article summarizes the inspirations that the relevant foreign practices for us.
