The Current Situation of Information Service and Establishment of Information Service System for Technical Standards by Engineering College Libraries

[Purpose/significance] The innovation-driven development strategy is being implemented to promote technical innovations in enterprises in China. Technical standards have increasingly shown their role of linkage between research strength in engineering colleges and technical innovation knowledge in enterprises. Engineering colleges have to cultivate practical talents in line with market and enterprise needs and produce scientific and technological results which can be industrialized and technical standards are required. [Method/process] Through the visit, telephone, Webpage and retrieve database etc., the hot topics in the current information service for technical standards are reviewed and the information services provided by libraries of engineering colleges in China and other countries are compared and analyzed. [Result/conclusion] Libraries in engineering colleges need to further improve in building data resources, providing service channels, delivering service means, equipping and training service teams. By building data resources of technical standards and user-friendly webpages, cultivating excellent standards service teams, expanding information service means for technical standards, collaborating with the relevant departments inside or outside the college and professional standards departments, an information service system for technical standards by engineering college libraries can be established so as to fulfill the needs of technical standards information in teaching, research, and personnel training.
