[Purpose/significance] This paper summarizes and combs the current situation of library makerspace in China and America, to provide a useful reference for the development of makerspace in China.[Method/process] Based on the introduction of related practices in China and America, it compares the difference in library makerspace services between two countries in various aspects, such as policy support, maker culture, service types and service technology. Then it analyzes the main factors which mainly influence Chinese libraries to provide makerspace service.[Result/conclusion] It proposes that China library should, based on the Chinese condition and American service experience, strengthen international cooperation, build online exchange platform, reshape the human resources, focus on providing experiential services, set up makerspace infrastructure service with diversities and multi- dimensions to accelerate the library service transformation.
