[Purpose/significance] This research tries to combine scientific papers with patent, and establish a reasonable research fronts identifying method model which integrates basic research and application research. [Method/process] Based on the methods of identifying research fronts based on keywords co-occurrence, using cosine similarity method to combine scientific papers with patent,and using two indexs of research topic ages and authors number with the concern for identifying research topics to identify the research fronts.[Result/conclusion] The results indicate that the method not only can identify the research fronts which can't be identified only based on scientific papers or patent but also track the generation,growth,decline, and disappearance of research fronts.
