[目的/意义]了解国外图像资源长期保存实践的进展情况，借鉴先进的保存经验。[方法/过程]调研国外图像资源长期保存的主要项目，从国家分布、项目介绍、规范标准/指南、技术工具与方法4个方面进行具体阐述。[结果/结论]国外图像资源长期保存存在研究数量不多、国家分布单一、项目所属机构以非盈利性为主、依赖国家或基金组织支持的特点，揭示其在数字化技术、资源细分、元数据关联等方面的不足。在此基础上，初步探讨我国图像资源长期保存相关研究仍处于起步阶段的现状，并从建立政策与管理机制、提高保存意识、制定并完善技术体系与技术标准3个方面给出建议。
[Purpose/significance] The paper aims to have a understanding of the practice and research progress of the long-term preservation of image object resources, and refer to good preservation experience. [Method/process] By researching and combing the foreign projects related to this area, this paper gave a detailed description of existing projects from four aspects:national distribution, project introduction, standard specification, and technology and tools.[Result/conclusion] Finally, we summarized four features of the foreign research on long-term preservation of image object resources:the number is small; the distribution of countries is single; the organization of the project is mainly non-profit and dependent on state or fund support. And it revealed its shortcomings in digital technology, resource segmentation, metadata association and so on. Based on this, we preliminary discussed the current situation of long-term preservation of image object resources in China, which is still in infancy stage. And the suggestions of forming policy and management mechanism, improving preservation consciousness, and developing and perfecting technical system and technical standard are given.
