Abstract

[Purpose/significance] This paper attempt to investigate differences among citation trajectories in subpopulations of articles in the field of library and information science, and analyze the underlying factors. [Method/process] Group-based trajectory modeling (GBTM) was applied to the citation curves of articles to distinguish among the development trajectories. The interdisciplinarity were measured to investigate the relationship between the interdisciplinary degree and the citation trajectory. [Result/conclusion] There are two citation modes, "persistent" and "temporary", at different cumulative cite levels. As a predictor variable, interdisciplinarity do not affect the levels of aggregated citations but only the persistence of citations.
