Regarding the top 50 research institutions of ARWU (Academic Ranking of World University) published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University as research object and the data of Web of Science as statistical source, this paper analyzes the association between h-index, ARWU evaluation indexes and traditional bibliometrics indexes. The results show that both h-index and core indexes of ARWU are associated with total articles published and total cites, total cites and single cite respectively fit Hirsch model and Glanzel-Shubert model. Finally it calculates their parameter α and c in two models, to provide the empirical basis for the theoretical study of applicability of h-index in humanities and social sciences.
