Data Sharing Policy

Data Sharing Policy

To ensure the availability and verifiability of linked data in papers, in accordance with the State Council's "Scientific Data Management Measures" and the Chinese Academy of Sciences' "Measures for the Management and Open Sharing of Scientific Data (Trial)", Library and Information Service and Knowledge Management Forum (hereinafter referred to as "the two journals") encourage authors to submit and share linked data in public data repositories.

1 Types and Scope of Data

The definition of research data for scientific papers varies across different disciplines. Broadly, it refers to research outputs collected, observed, or created for analyzing and producing the results of a paper, which are not included in the main text due to technical, content, or platform reasons. Research data includes, but is not limited to: raw data, processed data, software, algorithms, models, protocols, methods, materials, etc.

Authors should share data that directly supports the conclusions of the paper, and the journal encourages such sharing. Data generated for conducting research reflected in the paper or used for repeated analysis in research are encouraged to be shared. Original, unprocessed data obtained from experiments or observations that are not reflected in the paper may be voluntarily shared. Data involving research ethics, sensitive information, confidential information, or data sharing that would harm the legal rights of third parties should not be shared. If data that is not suitable for sharing has been irreversibly anonymized or can be shared for other legal and reasonable reasons, it can be shared after the data author provides a de-identification statement or other proof documents.

2 Requirements for Data Storage

The two journals encourage open sharing of linked data in papers, with specific instructions as follows:

(1) Authors are encouraged to store linked data in public repositories;

(2) Authors are encouraged to provide a data availability statement in their papers;

(3) The two journals will decide whether to peer-review the data based on the manuscript;

(4) Authors are encouraged to cite the dataset in the references.

3 Recommended Data Repositories

The two journals encourage authors to submit and share linked data in data repositories, with the recommended repository being the Science Data Bank (ScienceDB).

4 Data Availability Statement

Data availability statement templates for authors’ reference:

(1) General template: The linked data of this paper (DOI/CSTR: ) can be accessed and obtained from the (database name) database (permanent web link), see reference [reference number].

Example: The linked data of this paper (CSTR: 31253.11.sciencedb.j00133.00008) can be accessed and obtained from the ScienceDB database (https://www.scidb.cn/detail?dataSetId=283539a45163416badda84cb5a5a99ec), see reference [3].

(2) Data requiring special software tools: The linked data of this paper (DOI/CSTR: ) can be accessed and obtained from the (database name) database (permanent web link), and the software for opening the linked data is (software name), see reference [reference number].

Example: The linked data of this paper (DOI:10.11922/sciencedb.j00133.00008) can be accessed and obtained from the ScienceDB database (https://www.scidb.cn/detail?dataSetId=283539a45163416badda84cb5a5a99ec), and the software for opening the linked data is Python, see reference [3].

(3) Data not suitable for sharing: The linked data of this paper is not suitable for sharing and can be obtained from the author upon reasonable request, author contact: …….

(4) Data sharing not applicable: Data sharing does not apply to this paper, as no new data was generated or analyzed in this study.

5 Data Citation

The two journals encourage authors to record linked data information in the references of the paper, with the specific format requirements as follows:

[Number] Author. Dataset Title [Dataset]. Data Repository. Version (if any). Journal Name. [Access Date]. Digital Object Identifier (e.g., DOI).

Example: [2] Chen Wenjie. Scientific Cooperation Hyper Network Dataset [DS/OL]. Science Data Bank. Library and Information Service. [2022-06-28]. DOI:10.57760/sciencedb.j00133.00029.

6 Submission Process

Authors are requested to log in to the Science Data Bank (ScienceDB) at the time of submission (data community URL for Library and Information Service: https://www.scidb.cn/surl/lis, data community URL for Knowledge Management Forum: https://www.scidb.cn/surl/kmf), register and submit related data for the paper, and then register the data link in the submission system.

7 Data Use License Agreement

The journal recommends authors use the CC-BY 4.0 license agreement.
