Journal Introduction

Library and Information Service (CN11-1541/G2, ISSN 0252-3116), established in 1956, was initially named the Newsletter of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Library. It was renamed Reference Materials for Library Work in 1961, suspended during the Cultural Revolution (1967-1974), and renamed again to Library Work in 1975. In 1980, it adopted its current title Library and Information Service, and became a bi-monthly publication from 2009. Supervised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and managed by the National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Science, it's a national-level academic journal focused on "Information Resource Management." It mainly reports on the latest research and practical advancements in the field of Information Resource Management and related areas. The journal's mission is to combine theory with practice, promote the academic spirit, and drive the development of the field. Its positioning and characteristics involve targeting research institutions and related departments in the field of Information Resource Management, focusing on data resource management and services, knowledge management and services, intelligence services, smart services in the digital network and open science environments, and promoting the transformation and development of traditional library, information, and archival work. It emphasizes a combination of theory and practice, with a grounding in reality and an orientation towards the future. The journal is peer-reviewed.

Over 60 years of development, the Library and Information Service has played a significant role in promoting academic exchange, guiding practical work, advancing discipline construction, and training professionals. It enjoys a high reputation and influence in both academic and industrial circles. The journal ranks second in the "Comprehensive List of Core Journals in China" by Peking University, third among the core source journals of Nanjing University (CSSCI), and second in comprehensive evaluation scores in both the "Library and Information Science" and "Information Science" categories in the "Chinese Science and Technology Journal Citation Report" by the Institute of Scientific and Technical Information of China. It has consistently ranked first in full-text reprint volume in its discipline in the "Reprint Index Ranking of Newspapers and Periodicals" by the Renmin University of China. Additionally, it has been rated as an A-category authoritative journal by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Evaluation Studies (AMI) and an A+ Chinese authoritative academic journal by the Research Center for China Science Evaluation (RCCSE) at Wuhan University. The journal is included in the "Top 100 National Newspapers and Journals," recommended on the FMS Management Science High-Quality Journal Recommendation List, and has won awards such as the "Double Awards Journal" in the Chinese Journal Phalanx, nominated for the National Journal Award, named China's Outstanding Library Science Journal, and has repeatedly won "China's Most Internationally Influential Academic Journal" and "Top 100 Digital Influence Journals." It is fully included in the "China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) Full-text Database" and is available for online first release.

The current editor-in-chief of the Library and Information Service is Professor Chu Jingli. The journal has established an editorial board consisting of 98 domestic and international members and 23 young members. The journal features columns like "Exclusive Articles," "Special Topics," "Theoretical Research," "Practical Work Research," "Intelligence Research," "Knowledge Organization," and "Reviews and Commentaries," and releases an annual topic guide for authors.
