The Track, Characteristics and Trend on Community Informatics

The sample of 521 papers on community informatics included in Web of Science (SCI, ISTP) published during 1998-2011, and their 17 968 references are analyzed with CiteSpace Ⅱ software in the aspects of their publishing time,authors,institutions,subjects and references distribution. Meanwhile, this paper analyzes the high frequency keywords, high centrality and high cited documents to identify research focus. The results show that community informatics research is a way off from hitting its stride but knowledge reserving speed is accelerating, that the main research hot topics are composed of social network and social capital, that social networks is a major branch, and that networked-learning, social networks, complex network and health care will become the major hot subjects in the future.
