Study on the Altmetric Indicators of Paper Impact based on PLOS API

We take the dataset named "Article-Level Metrics" on PLOS API as the sample. Firstly, we implement standardization and normality test for twenty altmetric indicators. Secondly, we put forward two characteristics of altmetric indicators on coverage and density. Thirdly, through the Spearman correlation analysis, we get the nonparametric correlation coefficient matrix. Further, we visualize the correlation matrix by means of color graph generated by the "corrplot" package of R programming language. We adopt SPSS18.0, Ucinet 6 and NetDraw softwares to make multidimensional scaling and social network analysis, and the results are slightly different on the dimensions of altmetric indicators, but with the basic consistency. The author summarizes the role of altmetric indicators, their suitable scope and difficulty in the end.
