The Empirical Analysis of University Students’ Mobile Learning Needs

The paper conducts a sample survey on university students' mobile learning needs including content needs and service needs, based on elaborating the theoretical framework of mobile learning needs. The results show that most university students need mobile education, including the instant content related with the curricular and extra-curricular learning, with moderate length, in the form of texts mainly and followed by pictures, videos and audio. They mainly use smart phones and ipads as terminals, and need the client softwares, WAP and SMS as service platforms. They need subscribing or inquirying mobile leaning contents by themselves, and they also need personalized push services and auxiliary learning community. They hope mobile learning services are for free. Finally, the paper proposes some suggestions on mobile education based on the characteristics of university students' mobile learning needs.
