The paper analyzes the literatures on open access journals(OAJ) in foreign counties in the last decade, and summarizes the existing research achievements. Systematically combing the current research situation and hotspots of OAJ, it finds that the existing problems are the limitation of sample range in empirical study, the scarcity of comprehensive evaluation system for OAJ academic influence, the simplex evaluation methodology which can not disclose the OAJ characteristics fully, and the lack of operational OAJ quality evaluation models. Finally, it puts forward the suggestion on the relative follow-up study, that it is necessary to compares different developing stages and adopts large samples to construct the system and analyze the model based on each discipline.
