Comparative Study on Online User Guidance Services between University Libraries in China and America

This paper analyses the important role of online user guidance services. It selects libraries of twenty prestigious colleges and universities in China and America according to the certain criteria. With typical survey methods, it makes a comparative analysis on online user guidance services of selected libraries from six perspectives of the service object, service mode, service delivery, service availability, service content and service level. This paper finds that there are the gap and issues between university libraries in China and America, and discusses them and puts forward relevant countermeasures and suggestions.
