Research Progresses on Collaborative Information Seeking and Retrieval Behaviors

The research on collaborative information seeking and retrieval behaviors have been presented in details in the recent 20 years, and the main problems in these studies are analyzed. It finds that core researchers usually come from library and information science and computer supported cooperative work in North America and Europe; the research samples are those information-richened people such as academic researchers, engineers and technicians; qualitative studies are dominated, and multiple methods are co-used for data collection and data analysis; the main research topics on it contain all kinds of contents, such as its connotation and types, behavioral expression and characteristics, frameworks and models and influencing factors. Based on analyzing shortages in the research, this paper proposes some important issues which need to further study in the future.
