Investigation and Analysis on Motivations of Social Tagging Behaviors Under Network Environment

Abstract

This paper conducts a sample survey on motivations of social tagging behaviors of network users. The results show that the motivations of social tagging behaviors are various. These behaviors are affected by the factors, including the type of website, the kind of information resources, the convenience of tags and the literacy of users. The convenience of tags is the most significant influencing factor. The motivation of the user's tagging is in connection with the intensity and frequency of users' tagging behaviors. Users of different tagging motivation favor different tags of different types and forms. Finally, it makes some suggestions for guiding the users to participate in social tagging.
