Study on Abbreviation for Synonymous Terms Merging

This paper summarizes three characteristics of abbreviations, namely the diversity of full name, the diversity of sources, diversity of form, studies on processing methods of synonymous terms in Science & Technology English Super-thesaurus during synonymous terms merging, sums up four ways to deal with synonymous, such as directly merging processing, adding full name restrictions, adding category number restrictions and based on word frequency, finally discusses the principle of abbreviations as the preferred and non-preferred term, the effect of abbreviation for the recall and precision in retrieval, and the repeatability of category number for abbreviation.
