Indexes of innovation potentiality would be added in research evaluation system for encouraging to product more innovation achievements. The paper theoretically elaborated structural holes and brokerage roles that based on network structure are applicable in measuring the innovation potentiality of evaluation objects. Taking economics authors as an example, empirical study proved the practicality of constraint index and brokerage roles index as the indexes of innovation potentiality. Through theoretical inquiry and empirical study, the paper summarized the indexes' characteristics, relation and using way, considered that they can measure the innovation potentiality of discipline, authors, institutions and etc. And the two indexes should be matched usage for reaching comprehensive evaluation.
