Significance and Prospects of Introducing 3D Printing Services in the Library

Firstly, this paper introduces the rising background of 3D printing services. Then it elaborates the significance of this service on innovating library service, practicing service concept, and changing social role and discovering tacit knowledge. It analyzes the current situation of the service in the aspects of main countries, types of libraries and cases. On this basis, it summarizes the challenges when carrying out this service, and puts forward the corresponding countermeasures. Finally, this paper forecasts the future development prospect of 3D printing services in the library.
