Vocabulary Standard Development Methodology and Its Application in the Information and Documentation Fields

Abstract

This paper introduces three development approaches on vocabulary standard and main methodology standards on vocabulary standard developed by ISO/TC 37. Then it summarizes the suggestions, such as adding and deleting terms, structural representation and conformance of concept framework, posted by international experts during developing ISO 5127 international vocabulary standard in the information and documentation fields. Finally, the paper proposes dealing principles of consistency with international standard, vocabulary selection and international opinion processing, and designs a structure display module based on SKOS for maintenance and development of ISO 5127.
