Practice of Social Responsibility：A Content Analysis of 19 Public Library Websites in China

The libraries as information services organizations present their goals, define their roles, and articulate social responsibility on their websites. Content analysis was performed on 19 public library websites to identify types of social responsibility, intend audience, realization way and area of presentation. It is hoped that the public libraries must persist in combining theory with practice and depending on resources included information, service and users. Furthermore, the libraries should improve websites to illustrate social responsibilities more actively.
