Abstract

The master program of library and information science in the university library, which was born in the early 2000s, has overcome many difficulties: lacking of students, faculty deficiency, having no experience in training, etc. After 10 years of exploration and innovation, it has initially formed a distinctive graduate training mode. Through methods of using multidisciplinary admissions, hiring part-time professors and establishing joint training bases, the master program of library and information science in Shandong University of Technology library has trained graduate students with composite knowledge structure and comprehensive application ability; as a result, a number of indicators are among the best in the school discipline constructions. However, the master program in university libraries is still restricted by various factors and the future orientation depends on continued reforms.
