The Analysis of Different Groups of Librarians’ Polarization Views on Librarians’ Social Status

Through the research of self-stereotype of Chinese librarians,there exists big divergence between different groups of librarians to the perception of social status of themselves. By further studying the difference between different groups of librarians for the self-perceived social status, we have found out that：(1)The librarians of female, low degree and title hold a positive attitude for their social status. (2)The librarians of highly educated, high titles and with the professional background hold a negative attitude for their social status. (3)The librarians who have worked in the library less than five years think they have higher social status. (4) The librarians who think themselves can offer good service consider they have higher social status. (5)Library career is a profession in support of secondary vocational choice. The perception of social status of librarians themselves is polarized.
