Thoughts on the Less Popular Reading Room Service for the Visually Impaired：A Survey Based on Ten District Libraries in Guangzhou City

With a survey on ten district libraries in Guangzhou city, this paper presents the reasons why reading rooms for the visually impaired enjoy less popularity from the aspects such as the awareness of accessibility, demands of visually impaired readers, library services and personal factors of visually impaired readers. In order to turn such situation around, public libraries should raise the awareness of accessibility and enhance library accessibility construction, adhere to people-oriented policy and extend accessibility services, respect for visually impaired readers and create barrier-free humanistic environment, strengthen collaboration to improve the overall efficiency of accessibility service, and improve accessibility service by building library staff forces intensively.
