The mental model plays an important role in users' interaction with academic database. This paper explores the influences factors and effects of undergraduate students' mental models in comprehensive academic databases. An experiment is conducted to collect data, which is analyzed with independent-sample test, one-way analysis of variance and multiple linear regressions to analyze data. Sixty-one undergraduate students participate in this study. ①on the aspect of influences factors of user mental model, it finds that: network age and cognitive style are two important factors for the individual difference; in terms of network age factor, the mental model score of high network age group is higher than low one; in perspectives of content cognitive, user positive and negative emotions dimensions; in terms of cognitive style factor, the mental model score of field independence group is higher than field dependence one in perspective of interface capabilities cognitive of user; the difference of age does not affect user mental model and each dimension; the factors of gender, major, grade, use frequency and learning style have not significant effect on user mental model but have some difference in corresponding dimensions. ②On the effect of user mental model aspect, it finds that: user mental model has a mediation effect between user character and search performance; in terms of cognitive style factor, user mental model may play a partial mediation effect, but remains to be further proved and discussed; in terms of network age factor, user mental model has a full mediation effect. This study has implications in the personalized information literacy training of undergraduate students.
