Subject Service Practices of General Local Universities in Shanghai

Firstly, utilization free network resource, subject navigation, subject librarian, information commons and information literacy education of 20 general public universities in Shanghai district are explored. Then the author lists the typical cases. And improved strategies are put forward, which include optimizing the cyber source mode, developing subject topic navigation and specific subject commons. Finally, the paper summarize experiences including active service, priority service for key disciplines, step by step service and seizing the opportunity to expand subject service way for general institutions.
