Abstract

Regarding the limits of traditional citation index databases, this work takes example by related research, attempting to investigate the distribution of Chinese electronic Grey Literature by the tool of Google Scholar. At last, the availability of this tool is verified. We also find that the Grey Literature in the sample hasn't been sufficiently exploited, which is reflected as follows: 1) there are less research institutes and administrative agencies working on Chinese Grey Literature; 2) the proportion (or the visibility) of Grey Literature seems on the low side; 3) there is no significant difference between the half-life of Grey Literature and that of conventional literature in the sample; 4) the institutional sources of Grey Literature are very limited.Following research should be taken to verify the application of the conclusion drawn from the sample.
