Empirical Analysis of Children's Picture Book Reading In Small and Medium-sized Cities: A Case Study in Kaifeng City

Abstract

[Purpose/significance] Facing the existing defects and shortcomings of the children's picture book reading service in small and medium-sized cities in our country, this paper, through social research, targets proposes of the policies and measures which library services should have, which will expand its services and improve the service quality.[Method/process] Taking the empirical approach of questionnaires and individual interviews to 482 children's families in Kaifeng, after the analysis and summary of the answers to the 24 questions in four major types designed.[Result/conclusion] with the scientific data, this paper summarizes the effective intervention strategy and service approach in library, including raising public awareness through publicity, promoting parents' understanding of participation, subdividing readers, diversifying the picture book reading activity. This paper aims to provide a reference for the library service of children's picture book reading in small and medium-sized cities.
