Analysis of Cited Features and Obsolescence of Standard Documents

[Purpose/significance] In order to realize the academic influence of standard documents in China and provide reference for the use of standard documents, this paper analyzes the cited characteristics of standard documents.[Method/process] By applying bibliometrics methods, choosing the data of standard citations of 1994 to 2013, this paper makes an analysis about the standard citations and the subject distribution from the indicators including the total citations and average citations.[Result/conclusion] It shows that the percentage of standard citation and average citation in the total citations are very small; the standard citations of each subject are quite different, and the citations in engineering and medical science are the biggest; the high-cited standard citations belongs to natural science; the standard citations is zero in most social science; the half-life of standard citations is long and the obsolescence speed is slow.
