Thoughts and Suggestions on Data Literacy Education in the Universities: A Case Study of Harvard University and An Interview in China

[Purpose/significance] The paper tries to explore the development strategies of data literacy education of academic libraries in China.[Method/process] This paper introduces data literacy education at Harvard University, discussing the cultivation of data awareness, data knowledge, data skills and data culture from three levels: the core layer, the outer layer and the related layer. And through the interviews of status and views of librarians and students in our country, the educational practice is in line with the actual situation.[Result/conclusion] Based on the Harvard case and interviews studies, it provides ideas to conduct data literacy practice: developing education and management policies, culturing the library “data scientists”, embedded education and emphasizing data cultural and cooperation.
