Application of Discourse Structure Theory in Social Media Information Processing

[Purpose/significance] Information extraction in social media is an important issue when innovating social media's upper application under the environment of information overload. This paper introduces a method of Discourse Structure Theory which can apply to the information processing in social media.[Method/process] This paper reviews the research development of Discourse Structure Theory at home and abroad and its basic principles, and makes a validation analysis on the microblog case with it.[Result/conclusion] This paper discusses the feasibility of Discourse Structure Theory in information processing in Chinese social media, and finds some issues and challenges when applying the new method to the Chinese information machine processing.
