The Exploration of UK E-lending Pilot in Public Libraries

[Purpose/significance] This paper introduces the methods that were put in place to establish the best e-lending mode in UK public libraries through the e-lending pilot, providing a reference for the development of e-lending service for domestic libraries.[Method/process] Through website and literature analysis,this paper points out the difficulties of e-lending service in UK public libraries, presents a series of researching, planning and measures UK authorities have carried out under different lending policies by leading related parties.[Result/conclusion] The practice and experience of UK libraries is a guidance for the development of domestic e-lending service. Public libraries should communicate with publishers positively and try more flexible licensing models, extend acquisition channels, get a fair price and provide more free digital access for the readers, to promote the quality of service.
