Abstract

This research takes the innovative development strategy as driving force, proposes the performance evaluation method and process of developing dominant disciplines and tapping potential disciplines, determines the standards of dominant disciplines and potential disciplines by using the method of setting the target ratio. It uses the databases of ESI and SCIE for empirical analysis of development trends of the dominant and potential disciplines in three universities in Henan province. Then it makes a longitudinal comparison to get the rankings, relative positions and development trend of the dominant disciplines, makes a horizontal comparison to identify their gaps with key universities, and makes a comparison with the world's top 1% disciplines baseline to determine the relative position of potential subjects, to achieve the goal of promoting the innovation and development of the disciplines construction in universities.
