[Purpose/significance]This paper aims to build a fusion model of education and entertainment for information literacy educational game, to guide the design of effective information literacy education games.[Method/process]With literature research and analysis of some successful educational games, the key elements and approaches of fusion are proposed, and a fusion model is built for information literacy educational game. An information literacy educational game Wisdom Town is designed based on this model to learn 10 common full-text journal databases. Students are recruited to play the game and questionnaires are used to collect data to examine the model.[Result/conclusion] The developing process of game is smooth. The Game-based learning outcome of the game is encouraging, and students’ game experience is wonderful, so the fusion effects are fully affirmed. There are five key elements with the fusion model: choosing suitable game genre, combining learning goal with gaming goal, incorporating learning units with game storyline, integrating learning activities with gaming activities, and uniting learning scaffolds with gaming scaffolds.
