Textual Analysis and Enlightenment of Privacy Protection Guidelines for Foreign Libraries

[Purpose/significance] In view of development status of library privacy guidelines and the problem of library service standards in China, this paper analyzes privacy protection guidelines for foreign libraries to provide reference for China to formulate the privacy guidelines for libraries.[Method/process] This paper analyzes the specific contents of privacy protection guidelines for representative libraries in Australia, Canada, Britain and other countries fist, then analyzes their characteristics, at last, it gives suggestions to formulate the privacy protection guidelines for Chinese libraries.[Result/conclusion] This paper points out that privacy protection guidelines for Chinese libraries should be formulated by authorities, have operability, practicability, feasibility and modesty, cater to the needs of the era of big data, define the responsibility-seeking mechanism clearly, require libraries to set privacy protection policy and impact assessment mechanism of privacy protection and focus on improving awareness of personal information protection of users and librarians.
