[Purpose/significance] Traditional information literature focuses on the retrieval skills and methods. In recent years, the concept of Media and information Literacy(MIL) has been proposed by UNESCO, which is the first time the media literacy and information literacy come to form one organic integrated concept. It has a guiding significance, for information literacy educationin the environment of media integration, which can improve the humanity and sociality of information literacy education, break the limitations of two subjects, and explore the new interdisciplinary subject,to realize the innovation and development.[Method/process] Through inductive analysis of the results of comparative research on the media literacy and information literacy in recent years, combined with the theory and practice of media information literacy in China and foreign countries, this paper attempts to put forward the effective way of integration of media literacy and information literacy. Chinese information literacy education should be integrated with the media literacy education, which requires implementing the participatory teaching, innovating the online courses, establishing the platform of disciplines integration, strengthening the international cooperation, and playing the intermediary role of libraries, to realize the transformation from skill-oriented to literacy-oriented.[Result/conclusion] Information literacy education needs to avoid technical-orientation, foster the skill learning and media information comprehension ability,and develop combined with the media literacy.The concept of MIL clearly expresses this idea, which can expand the horizon of information literacy research.
