[Purpose/significance] For the 60^th anniversary of the founding of Library and Information Service, it can reveal its academic status and influence in the industry to analyze and summarize its academic course.[Method/process] We counted all the academic papers of Library and Information Service published from 1956 to 2016 by using bibliometrics. Then, we analyzed and revealed its academic influence, academic creativity, capacity of absorbing and disseminating knowledge from the dispatch perspective including the amount of published articles, the core author group, the core institution group, the core theme group and from the citation perspective including the journal impact factor, the journal cited rate, the immediacy index etc.[Method/process] It is shown that in the past 60 years all evaluation indexes of Library and Information Service have been rising steadily and the journal has created an academic chain of production, study and research. It has also entered a high-speed development in terms of its comprehensive strength and level. This shows us its strong innovation feature and it is truly a miracle in the field of library and information science in China.
