The Inspirations of the Library Strategic Plans Abroad:A Research Based on Document Studies

[Purpose/significance] For Chinese libraries, scientific, standardized and cyclical library strategic plans are still in the initial stage of development. By investigating and analyzing the documents of library strategic plans abroad, absorbing and learning from their related theoretical and practical outcomes, it will promote the theoretical and practical development of strategic planning in China.[Method/process] This paper chooses 39 latest library strategic plans abroad as research samples, and analyzes their contents from aspects such as the distribution of countries/areas, timespans, formats and word frequencies.[Result/conclusion] The results show that in the development of library strategic planning abroad, they attach great importance to the following perspectives, such as theoretical research and practical experiences, contents production and implementation, environmental analysis, as well as influential factors coordination during the process of strategic planning development. Their extensive participations, perfect formats and rich contents will be the important inspirations and great references to the development of the library strategic planning in China.
