Research on the Process of Knowledge Diffusion Among Scientific Disciplines——Taking the Field of Social Network as an Example

Abstract

[Purpose/significance] In the era of knowledge-driven economy, the diffusion and absorption of disciplinary knowledge greatly promote the disciplinary collaboration, integration, development and innovation. This paper proposes a method with the combination of the quantitative index measurement and the semantic information mining of knowledge to explore the diffusion process of disciplinary knowledge, expecting to enrich and perfect the research paradigms and methods of disciplinary knowledge diffusion, and provide references for knowledge management and decision making. [Method/process] Firstly, on the basis of the classic quantitative index measurement, a systematic study on disciplinary knowledge diffusion was conducted to explore the quantity and theme features of disciplinary knowledge diffusion by using the formal concept analysis and semantic information of disciplinary knowledge. Secondly, a Logistic model of disciplinary knowledge diffusion was constructed and the evolution trend was predicted. Thirdly, an empirical study was further carried on by taking the field of social network as an example. [Result/conclusion] Firstly, the application scopes of knowledge in different disciplines are unceasingly expanded, and the diffusion process of knowledge conforms to the characteristics of power law distribution. Secondly, it shows certain differences of different disciplines to absorb and accept knowledge subjects. Thirdly, the diffusion process of current social network knowledge in different disciplines is in the mature stage.
