The Center for Digital Scholarship: Service Transformation and Space Change in Libraries: A Case Study of the CDS of Academic Libraries in North America

[Purpose/significance] This paper aims at introducing a new upcoming service model and space changing way in North American academic libraries, called as the center for digital scholarship (CDS), and studying its rebuilding course, to provide a good reference for the development of college libraries in China.[Method/process] With the typical case analysis method, the ten cases of academic libraries in North America, the service model and space changing are analyzed and compared. Their service models and main ways of space changing are summarized[Result/conclusion] The CDS of academic libraries in North America is a new type of space, which integrates the service transformation and space change, digital scholarship research support and service innovation. It will be the most open, creativity and innovative space of academic library in the future. It has certain enlightenment significance to the development of digital academic support service of university libraries in China.
