[Purpose/significance] LYRASIS was formed by the merger of multiple consortia under the background of the U.S. economic crisis, and is a typical sample of consortia with big cooperation and collaboration. Domestic cross-system consortia has met development bottleneck. Through the survey analysis of LYRASIS practice, this paper puts forward suggestions for construction of cross-system consortia in China. [Method/process] Through surveying LYRASIS and related websites, retrieving database to access relevant literature and mailing to LYRASIS relevant personnel, this paper obtains detailed data on the development of LYRASIS.[Result/conclusion] Studies show that LYRASIS has members of various types and diversified sources of funds, carries out diversified services and project cooperation, has strong competitive advantage of technical service, and makes members demand driven strategy plan. This paper further points out that domestic cross-system consortia needs to adjust the consortia operation mode, strive for multiple channels of funding sources, form competitive advantage and make strategic planning to promote the regional cooperation among consortia.
