Electronic Resources Management Based on the Library Service Platform Alma

[Purpose/significance] By reviewing the library service platform represented by Alma,this paper aims to make an analysis of its management function of electronic resources and guide libraries to better use the next generation library service platform and improve the management quality of the electronic resources. [Method/process] The paper discussed the necessity to use the library service platform managing electronic resources, summarized the whole life cycle of the electronic resource management, and analyzed the development course and features of the next generation library service platform. The electronic resources management functions were analyzed in detail as a case study of Alma. [Result/conclusion] The library service platform represented by Alma has strong advantages in managing electronic resources, but there are also some practical difficulties. China libraries need to develop their own electronic resources workflow combined with the system workflow in practical application. The sharing cooperation mechanism set up by libraries, publishers and library consortia should be promoted, and the library service platform is urged to meet China libraries' local demand so as to better manage electronic resources.
