Policies and Legislation of Government Open Data in New Zealand and the Enlightenment

[Purpose/significance] From the perspective of policies and legislation, this paper investigates the policy support and legislation framework of New Zealand government open data, in order to put forward feasible suggestions for the development of government open data in China. [Method/process] Using the method of literature review and case study, this paper takes New Zealand as an example, accesses the first materials from literature and site's content, and gets generalization and analysis of the content. [Result/conclusion] This paper suggests to form cross-government open data supervision team, set up a position for data management in agency, formulate detailed open data guidance and standards, attach importance to user experience and feedbacks, improve laws and regulations and use proper license.
