Strategies and Characteristics of Crowdfunding for Libraries

[Purpose/significance] To learn the development and characteristics of crowdfunding for libraries, and therefore develop corresponding strategies, the study took crowdfunding projects for libraries as objects. [Method/process] Threaded by inevitable issues for libraries to apply crowdfunding, the study systematically analyzed crowdfunding projects in aspects of project starters, campaign background, library business, dissemination channels and backers' rewards, with methods of case study and comparative analysis. [Result/conclusion] It is found that among crowdfunding projects, differences existed in all these five aspects. Libraries want to apply crowdfunding could adopt strategies of judging applicable situations clearly, selecting appropriate business reasonably, utilizing dissemination channels integrally and making backers' rewards variously.
